Food as Fuel

It is important to us at Dance Habit that we are promoting healthy relationships with food and our bodies, particularly in the dance studio setting. Our aim is to open up the conversation in a positive space with our ethos in mind – dance is about how you feel, not what you look like.

As part of our commitment to providing a holistic dance experience as well as a desire to get the language right, we brought in Louise Grech from Fresh Approach to Wellness to speak to our senior students and their parents on Saturday 3 March 2018.

Louise is a local Accredited Practicing Dietician with a Graduate Diploma in Psychology and she has a body-positive, non-diet approach to wellness.

The session encouraged our pre-teens and teens to join us in celebrating our unique bodies and all the things they are capable of, provided we fuel and look after them. Among other key points addressed in the links below, we also talked about self-worth. Participants wrote affirmations to their peers highlighting all of the beautiful qualities they see in each other that are not associated with their image.

Attached are some helpful links provided by Louise to assist parents.
