Our annual end-of-year concert is a great way to showcase the talent we have at Dance Habit. It also rewards students for their hard work by giving them the opportunity to dance on stage for their loved ones. The concert is not compulsory, but we strongly encourage participation as it is a truly wonderful experience for all involved. Together, we create memories that will be treasured for a lifetime. The excitement and magic generated by our end-of-year concert is second to none!
Please read thoroughly and let us know if you have any questions.
* Note: Move with Me students do not participate in our end-of-year concerts.
We are excited to announce that most of our Preschool students will again have their very own end-of-year concert this year. Our Preschool show theme is OUR WONDERFUL WORLD.
- We have lots of Preschoolers (not surprising given our expert Preschool team that you’ve all grown to love)!
- A separate show means the Dance Habit team can focus entirely on our youngest students during their concert experience.
- We are committed to ensuring our end-of-year concert is stress-free and enjoyable for all families.
- We appreciate that a shorter event is more practical for our Preschool families, many of which also have younger siblings.
- Preschool families are still welcome to come and watch our children’s and adult school concert if they wish (and vice versa).
IS THIS YOUR FIRST CONCERT WITH US?
For first-time dance parents, we promise the preparation is worth it. We’ll be there every step of the way, so you know exactly what’s required (and when). Take a look at the DVD playing in the lounge (our 2016 concert) to get some insight into the event and don’t hesitate to ask if you have questions at any time!
WHEN IS THE PRESCHOOL CONCERT?
Sunday 17 December, 12.00pm
This is with the exception of two classes.
WHICH CLASSES ARE NOT INCLUDED?
Two Preschool classes will perform in our Middle and Adult school concerts instead of the Preschool concert. Our Middle and Adult school show themes are BROADWAY and THE NUTCRACKER (for Ballet). Consideration has been given to age and dance experience when making this decision and the selected classes are below.
- Friday Intro to Dance (9.20am class) will perform in the 2.30pm concert
- Friday Intro to Dance (11.20am class) will perform in the 6.00pm concert
WHERE IS THE CONCERT HELD?
At the beautiful Moonee Ponds Clocktower Centre. We are very lucky to have an annual booking at this theatre – it is very special. The Clocktower Centre is located at 750 Mt Alexander Road, Moonee Ponds. Parking is available in the surrounding areas but please keep an eye on time limits and remember that parking conditions can change. Limited free parking is available opposite the Clocktower Centre but these spaces fill up quickly. Please allow ample time before rehearsals and performances to find a park.

WHAT ARE THE TICKET PRICES AND HOW DO I ORDER?

You do not need to purchase a ticket for performers.
All students will be provided with their costume plus ballet tights (for girls). Hair accessories will be handed out on concert day so please bring bobby pins to secure these on arrival.
Please note that all students must wear pink ballet shoes unless otherwise specified with you in person. No child is permitted to dance in bare feet at the concert. If you need assistance with purchasing ballet shoes, please contact us – there are a number of second-hand options available to you.
Please click the link to read the concert hair requirements for your child’s class. We have also included a video tutorial on how to do a Ballet Bun for those classes that need to.
Very basic makeup is highly recommended so we can see your little dancer’s features on stage and also on the DVD. We understand however, that some parents may be adverse to makeup and for this reason, it is not compulsory. For those happy to wear makeup, we have prepared a video tutorial for you and also some product and colour recommendations.
PHOTOGRAPHY AND VIDEO
Professional photos and a video will be available to purchase after the event. We will supply details on how to order by email to all families participating.
Chocolate orders are now complete – thank you to those who placed their orders as per newsletter. For every box sold, students receive $15 off their concert costume fees, with any remaining funds to be put toward bulk shipping costs.
PRESCHOOL CONCERT COMPLIANCE FORM
A compliance form must be completed and returned to participate in the concert. Click here to download a new copy if you have lost yours. These are due back no later than Saturday 23 September for existing students.
No, unless you would like to volunteer! Costumes are ordered and purchased on your behalf. Deposits were taken in Term 2 with the balance to be collected with Term 4 fees once prices are finalised. We work incredibly hard to source good quality, affordable costumes, which students get to keep after the concert. Preschool costumes will be kept under $55 total and you get to keep them after the event. Note that all Preschool students will also require ballet shoes for the concert as we cannot have bare feet at the venue.
I HAVE A QUESTION YOU HAVEN’T ANSWERED…
