Preschool Financial Guide 2018

YEARLY ACTIVITIES & FINANCIAL GUIDE

Below is a guide to our annual calendar, including any costs that may be in addition to term fees, so you know exactly what exciting things we get up to and what to expect financially. Our goal is to make dance accessible and affordable for all families, so costs are kept to a minimum wherever possible

TERM 1 – Monday 29 January to Sunday 1 April
(excluding Public Holidays)

An Open Day with free classes for all ages will be held on Sunday 28 January 2018. Term 1 is about getting settled and establishing routine. Preschool students are not required to wear a uniform, however, we ask that they be able to move comfortably in their chosen outfit. Ballet shoes can be purchased if desired. Dance store recommendations can be found on our Children’s School Uniform Page. All dancers get to know their teachers and one another as they are invited to make Dance Habit their home away from home.

Financial Guide: At enrolment (regardless of term), an annual administration and insurance fee of $20 per student applies. Families receive a 50% discount on this fee for any additional student within the same section of our school. Sections are Preschool, Juniors, Seniors and Adults.

TERM 2 – Monday 16 April to Sunday 1 July
(excluding Public Holidays)

Students are working on developing gross motor skills, social and emotional skills and self-awareness using our in-house dance syllabus. Toward the end of term, all students are invited to dance at our Midyear Performance, usually held at the RecWest on Essex Street, West Footscray. No uniform or costume is required.

Financial Guide: Entry to the Midyear Performance is a gold coin donation.

TERM 3 – Monday 16 July to Sunday 23 September
(excluding Public Holidays)

We are doing things differently in 2018 and holding our Preschool Concert in Term 3. For many, this is our most exciting term as all students prepare for our much-anticipated annual concert. The concert is not compulsory but we encourage participation. It is a truly wonderful experience for all involved and students gain an enormous sense of pride in their achievements. The concert is held toward the end of term in a professional theatre. We source all costumes, which students purchase and keep after the event. Professional photos and a DVD of the performance is available.

Financial Guide: We aim to keep costume fees under $50 per costume while ticket prices for audience members in 2017 were $15 for children, $24 for concession and $30 for adults. Due to Health and Safety requirements, all students do require ballet shoes for the concert (except Hip Hop). Photos and DVDs are available to purchase directly from our photographer/videographer if desired.

TERM 4 – Monday 8 October to Sunday 16 December
(excluding Public Holidays)

Students may participate in a Medal Day, which coincides with our end-of-year prizegiving. Medal Days are not compulsory but we encourage participation as it is a wonderful experience and gives students the opportunity to feel a sense of pride in their achievements. It is also a great way to track progress and receive feedback from an external dance professional. There is an additional charge for Medal Days, which covers the examiner/s fees as well as student report cards, certificates and medals. A small prize giving for all participants is held immediately after the Medal Day class and each student receives a medal, certificate and report card. Students opting out of Medal Days will not have their regular class during that week, but can attend a makeup class on another day during the term.

Financial Guide: Medal Day fees in 2017 were $35 (incl GST) per student / per class.
