Preschool Financial Guide 2021

YEARLY ACTIVITIES & FINANCIAL GUIDE

Below is a guide to our annual calendar, including any costs that may be in addition to term fees, so you know exactly what exciting things we get up to and what to expect financially. Our goal is to make dance accessible and affordable for all families, so costs are kept to a minimum wherever possible

TERM 1 – Monday 1 February to Sunday 4 April
(excluding Public Holidays)

Term 1 is about getting settled and establishing routine. Preschool students are not required to wear a uniform, however, we ask that they be able to move comfortably in their chosen outfit. Please note that dresses are not appropriate for Hip Hop or Acro classes – leggings with a leotard, singlet or tee shirt are required. Ballet shoes can be purchased if desired. Dance store recommendations can be found on our Children’s School Uniform Page. All dancers get to know their teachers and one another as they are invited to make Dance Habit their home away from home.

Financial Guide: At enrolment (regardless of term), an annual administration and insurance fee of $25 per student applies.

TERM 2 – Monday 19 April to Sunday 27 June
(excluding Public Holidays)

Students are working on developing gross motor skills, social and emotional skills and self-awareness using our in-house dance syllabus. During this term, all students are invited to dance at a Midyear Performance (not compulsory), usually held at a local community centre. No uniform or costume is required. In 2021, we will hold an OPEN WEEK instead of a Midyear Performance due to COVID-Safety requirements. This means parents are invited to watch the end of their child’s class time to view progress.

Financial Guide: Entry to the Midyear Performance is a gold coin donation.

TERM 3 – Monday 12 July to Sunday 19 September
(excluding Public Holidays)

In Term 3, we hold our Annual Preschool Concert. For many, the concert is our most exciting event. While not compulsory, we encourage participation. It is a truly wonderful experience for all involved and students gain an enormous sense of pride in their achievements. The concert is held in a professional theatre. We source all costumes, which students purchase and keep after the event. Professional photos and a video of the performance is available.

Financial Guide:

  • Preschool costume fees do not exceed $60 each and are yours to keep. This does not include ballet tights, which may be required.
  • Due to Health and Safety, all students require ballet shoes for the concert (except Hip Hop students who require runners). There are many second-hand shoe options available to you.
  • As a guide, ticket prices for audience members in 2019 were $20 for adults, $18 for concession and $12 for children.
  • Each family participating will be charged a fee for videography of the event, which gives you access to download and/or stream the concert via a password protected link. We have moved to digital downloads as our videographer has advised that DVDs are being phased out and are difficult to come by. The digital download is a more affordable price and a better quality product, however, physical DVDs can still be purchased in addition if desired. As a guide, the videography fee in 2019 was $20.
  • Photos are available to purchase directly from our photographer if desired but this is not compulsory. There is no photography fee charged by us.

TERM 4 – Monday 4 October to Sunday 19 December
(excluding Public Holidays)

Students may participate in a Medal Day, which coincides with our end-of-year prizegiving. Medal Days are not compulsory but we encourage participation as it is a wonderful experience and gives students the opportunity to feel a sense of pride in their achievements. It is also a great way to track progress and receive written feedback. There is an additional charge for Medal Days, which covers the event fees as well as student report cards, certificates and medals. A small prize giving for all participants is held immediately after the Medal Day class and each student receives a medal, certificate and report card. Students opting out of Medal Days will not have their regular class during that week, but can attend a makeup class on another day during the term (outside of Medal Week).

Financial Guide: Medal Day fees are $35 per student, per class.
