Frequently Asked Questions

  • Typically, no. Our classes are membership-based allowing groups to progress together from one week to the next.

Currently the only classes that permit casual attendance are Golden Groovers (60 years +) and DanceFit. For casual classes, we charge casual class fees automatically via AutoPay when the student is marked present.

  • No. We value our team and the time and effort they put in to make sure you have a great first experience with us. Trial classes are $15 for children or $20 for adults, per class.

  • Absolutely! We are all about making dance accessible. If you have any concerns about giving us a whirl, reach out for a chat so we can support you.

  • Our studios provide full visibility with viewing windows plus a live feed to the TV in our waiting area, so you’ll always be able to see the classes in action.

Young students may need caregiver support in the room when first commencing classes and our team will work closely with you on this to ensure a positive experience.

Move with Me (18 months +) are caregiver participation classes.

  • For children, we use school grade as a guide, plus:

    • Intro to Dance is for children attending four-year-old kindergarten.

    • Children may not join a Prep class until the year they commence Prep at school.

    • Children’s ballet levels are subject to both age and suitability.

For Adult classes, a level guide can be found on our adult membership page.

Final placement decisions are at the Studio's discretion, with consideration to skill and suitability.

  • Yes, absolutely! We offer an annual on-stage concert for all age groups except Move with Me (18 months +) classes.

The annual concert is an exciting event held in a professional theatre with tickets, costumes, and lights. Additional costs apply for end-of-year concert participation and costumes are yours to keep.

We also have a Midyear Performance for school-age children, which is intentionally very relaxed - we all sit on a gymnasium floor, admission is a gold coin donation, students wear their class uniforms and share some things they’ve been learning in classes.

  • No, the concert is not compulsory, but we do encourage participation because it is a positive and empowering experience for dancers of all ages and gives students an opportunity to share all that they have learned!

It is important to note that we often implement a short block-out period during the concert season where only those performing can come to class. This means that those not participating in the concert will have their memberships suspended during peak concert preparations so we can ensure they are not feeling left out during lessons.

  • Senior ballet students Grade 5 and over may complete external examinations with the Australian Teachers of Dance (ATOD). Additional charges apply.

Students in Prep to High School may participate in a Medal Checkpoint (internal assessment) for each of their classes.

    • Medal Checkpoints are not compulsory, but we encourage participation as it is a wonderful experience and gives students the opportunity to feel a sense of pride in their achievements.

    • It is also a great way to track progress and receive feedback from another teacher or external dance professional.

    • There is an additional charge for Medal Checkpoints, which covers fees to run the event as well as student report cards, certificates, and medals.

    • A prize giving for all participants is scheduled and additional awards and trophies are presented to outstanding students.

We do not offer exams for Preschool or Adult students.

  • There is no uniform for Preschool or Adult classes, however, the correct footwear must be worn for the selected class. You can find a guide on what to wear on our Preschool or Adult School membership pages.

Uniforms are required for most styles of dance for Middle School (Prep to High School) students. You can find these details on the Junior or Senior membership page.

    • When you sign up you set up AutoPay and our payment system will charge your registration fee plus pro-rata the balance for the current fortnight. You then agree to us debiting your card fortnightly on the Monday of the coming fortnight.

    • For children’s classes we spread the various costs of delivering your membership over the dance year, which means that the fortnightly automatic payment does not directly correlate to a per week/per class cost. You can see all payments and upcoming fees in your account portal.

    • Other fees apply for additional add-ons (such as concert fees, exams, medal days, merchandise etc). We let you know about these optional fees before we charge you and you pay for these items through your account portal.

    • Payments are managed via third party payment providers. The processing fees are advised when you sign up via the portal and may change from time to time per transaction. For Families with multiple students, to avoid multiple transaction fees, you can log in to the portal and pre-pay a nominated amount to cover multiple students.

  • We do not offer refunds for change of mind or missed classes.

    • If you will miss your regular class, let us know in writing as soon as you can.

    • To be eligible to book a make up class, you must give us at least 48 hours’ advance notice via email.

    • If you don’t give us the required advance notice, then you are not entitled to a make up class. This is because we have blocked out that space for you and may have turned away other students.

  • To be eligible for a make up class the student must meet the 48-hour advance notice requirement, be a current, paid-up member, register for the same level as their usual class, and register for the make up class within 2 weeks of the missed class.

    • Eligible students may request a make up class via email.

    • A student may register up to 3 make up classes per quarter.

    • Any missed make up class is forfeited.

    • All make up classes are subject to appropriate class selection and availability.

    • We cap the number of students in each class, so you must get confirmation that a spot is available before attending.

  • We generally don’t run classes on public holidays unless we clearly say otherwise.

    • For children, we offer make up classes.

    • For adult students, if your included number of classes are impacted to a lower tier, we adjust the fees for that time period to the lower tier.

  • Adult classes continue every week during the dance year, including during school holidays but not on public holidays unless we clearly say otherwise.

Children’s regular classes do not run during school holidays but we hold a community event for members in each age group (details are provided to members directly).

Children’s membership fees are charged during school holidays

During school holidays, the team is hard at work updating syllabus content, reviewing the past term, planning the term ahead and attending any scheduled training.

We spread the various costs of delivering your membership over the dance year, which means that the fortnightly automatic payment does not directly correlate to a per week/per class cost. It also supports:

    • Curriculum development and program updates

    • Ongoing class planning and teacher preparation

    • Access to our members only community events

    • Professional development for our teaching team to ensure the highest quality experience for your dancer

    • Regular review of learning outcomes and success criteria

  • We understand that sometimes you might go on holiday or get injured and not be able to make the most of your membership.

We’ve tried to balance our internal costs of holding an open place in class with a fair approach to pausing membership.

We have two key ways you can pause or suspend your membership:

    • Injury Suspension

    • Holiday Suspension

See our Studio Terms (page 7) for details.

  • If you want to end your membership, you need to let us know in writing via email.

Check the minimum commitment and notice period details for your membership on the Preschool, Junior, Senior or Adult membership pages.

  • We always aim for happy students and members, so if you have any questions, let us know and we can help fix things!

    • We encourage feedback so we have the opportunity to improve our services.

    • We aim to respond promptly and effectively to any issues raised.

    • Please contact us if you have a question or concern.

    • You can see our process for addressing issues in our Studio Terms (page 9).
