2020 Uniform

The information below is your uniform guide for 2020. The correct uniform is expected by week two of term. All students are expected to present to class in a tidy and well-groomed manner with hair tied back neatly off the face. We recommend dancewear by Energetiks.

Please visit our friends at Energetiks or Dancewear Nation. They know all of our uniform requirements and will happily get you fitted and looking fab, ready to Love the Way you Move!

Preschool

  • A specific uniform is not required for our Preschool Classes, but we do ask that students present to class in a tidy manner with hair tied back neatly off the face.
  • Students  should be able to move comfortably in their chosen outfit with no distractions (e.g. costumes or jewellery).
  • Acro students must wear leggings or shorts with a leotard, singlet or tee shirt. Dresses and skirts are not appropriate for acro.
  • Ballet or jazz shoes are best for Move with Me, Fairies & Princes and Intro to Dance classes, however, students are welcome to wear bare feet if preferred. Hip Hop students should wear runners and Acro is a bare foot class. Costume shoes and jiffies are not permitted in any lessons.
  • Please note that ballet shoes will be required for all students participating in our August concert.

Dance Fundamentals

  • Dance Fundamentals students are welcome to wear whatever colour they like for classes, however, appropriate dance attire is a must.  A leotard and tights or singlet and leggings is recommended. Dresses and skirts are not appropriate for dance lessons.
  • All Dance Fundamentals students must wear tan-coloured jazz shoes (note this has been our new colour since 2019). Please have your child fitted for jazz shoes by a dance wear specialist. 
Ill-fitting shoes can damage a dancer’s feet and cause postural and other body-related issues. Jazz shoes should fit like a glove. Ordering online is not recommended.
  • Please ensure clothing allows full range of movement with no distractions (e.g. no costumes or jewellery).
  • All students must present to class in a tidy, well-groomed manner with hair tied back neatly off the face.

Ballet 

  • Please have your child fitted for Ballet shoes by a dancewear specialist. Ill-fitting shoes can damage a dancer’s feet and cause postural and other body-related issues. Ballet shoes should fit like a glove. Ordering online is not recommended.
  • Ballet buns are required for all ballet classes.

Preps & Grades 1-2 Ballet (Ballet Pink)

Girls

  • Leotard of choice in Ballet Pink

Grades 3-4

From this level, students with long hair must wear it in a secure bun off the face. Other hairstyles that ensure long hair does not flick students in the eyes when turning is also acceptable.

Hip Hop

  • There is no specific uniform for Hip Hop classes.
  • Students are invited to wear casual clothing they feel comfy (and cool) in! Sneakers are recommended but avoid anything with too much grip.
  • Jeans and school uniforms are not appropriate dance wear and therefore not permitted.
  • Students must present to class in a tidy, well-groomed manner with hair tied back neatly off the face.

Contemporary 

  • There is no specific uniform for contemporary classes.
  • Students are invited to wear reasonably fitted clothing that they are comfortable (and can move) in. These are bare foot classes.
  • Jeans and school uniforms are not appropriate dance wear and therefore not permitted.
  • We ask that Contemporary students wear all black for Medal Tests.
  • Students must present to class in a tidy, well-groomed manner with hair tied back neatly off the face. Those with long hair are recommended to wear it in a secure bun off the face.

Tap 

All levels/ages

From Grade 3, students with long hair must wear it in a secure bun off the face. Other hairstyles that ensure long hair does not flick students in the eyes when turning is also acceptable.

Girls:

  • Red fitted singlet of your choice.
    Example: Energetiks V Neck Singlet in red – CC60 or CC79
  • Black fitted shorts, 3/4 leggings or fitted pants of your choice (ages 12+ must wear 3/4 length or longer).

AcroDance

All levels/ages

Girls and boys:

  • Jazz uniform (please refer above).
  • This is a bare foot class.
  • School uniforms are not appropriate dance wear and therefore not permitted.
  • For safety, students must ensure long hair is tied up, off the face and secured in a bun or similar hair style. Long pony tails are not permitted in AcroDance.

All levels/ages

Girls and boys:

  • Fitted Black leotard or singlet with fitted black leggings.
  • Black jazz shoes.
  • Students with long hair must wear it in a secure bun off the face. Other hairstyles that ensure long hair does not flick students in the eyes when turning is also acceptable.
